Keeping Car Trash Contained and Off the Floor!

Having a quick and easy way to throw away trash in the car can be a big challenge.

Because a car is such a small space, and many of us spend lots of time there, you may feel it is essential to keep the car clean!

It can be uncomfortable to be in a dirty car. By getting organized and clean, and keeping a routine, we are teaching our kids how to care for their space.

FRONT SEAT

Do you spend lots of time driving in the car? When I am in the car for a long time, whether it’s carpool and errands or a long trip, I don’t like the trash to build up or be rolling around!

I love to have a trash can easily available and within reach. I need to focus on the road not worry about where my trash is going to land.

There are a few different ways you can secure your trash can in the front seat. Being secure is important. Nothing like having a trash can in the car, for it to only tip over and dump the contents all over your floor. ( I know this from experience!)

You can secure your trash from your glove compartment box, your main console, even your cup holder!

There are lots of choices!

BACK SEAT

Sometimes my children have had no issue dropping trash without thinking twice about it. However, I feel if I can keep my area in the front seat picked up, they can handle keeping the backseat trash free.

One way to make this easier is to have a trash can that is easy and fun to use in the backseat.

We can make a game out of it, as well as have the kids clean up before they hop out of the car and run in the house.

Depending on your child’s age, you can create a game that works for you!

One feature to consider with kids is to have a trash can that has the option of being leak-proof!

A headrest litter bag attaches to the headrest of a seat. You can have it facing the kids in the back seat, or facing the front seat when there are no passengers. I have found mine easy to switch around to accommodate riders.

There are so many options that can accommodate young riders in the backseat!

Whichever trash can or organizer you choose, make sure it’s an organizer, or trash can, that will be very secure.

While driving kids around, anything can happen in the backseat and can be very unpredictable!

With toys, backpacks, or hands and feet flying around, make sure that the trash can won’t flip over and dump out your trash!

You may not think of the back of the car being a place where you would keep trash, but if you have a hatch back, SUV, or a minivan, You may want to keep storage and a trash can in the very back of the car.

If you keep the trash can in the back of the minivan or SUV, that will allow more space in the back seat. Especially if your kids have backpacks and other items, a trash bag or can may not be practical.

If you are using a backseat organizer, you can also attach it to the headrest of the kid’s seat and have it face the back, like if you have a mini van or SUV.

GAME TIME!

How can you get your kids on board with keeping the backseat area clean?

  • Make it a game like basketball
  • Have them “Beat the Clock”
  • Fun music jam routine before getting out of the car
  • Mini vacuum can be used for fun after clean up

Additional Items to help keep car clean:

  • Cleaning wipes for car and wipes for hands
  • Easily accessible trash can to dump car trash upon returning home
  • Empty plastic bags to dump all the trash in

CONCLUSION

It is amazing how quickly little pieces of trash or a few Starbucks cups can add up!

Having a dependable and leak proof car trash can will keep your car clean and organized.

No more stress about where you are going to put your stuff or where you are going to keep your gun wrapper.

Having a regular schedule for emptying your car trash cans will help to avoid the over flow of trash. The kid can help with dump the back seat trash can!

Cheering you on to a more simple life!
